Recess Policies

PreK-4 through 8th
2. How are recess and/or free break periods structured? Timing?
PreK4: 30 minutes twice a day
K-6th: Recess--30 minutes each day
7th-8th: Study Hall--50 minutes each day
Technology / Device Use
1. Are cell phones or other personal devices restricted during the school day? What is the policy?
Students K4-6th grade should not bring cell phones or other devices to school unless given permission for a special project or activity. Students in 7th-12th grades bringing a cell phone to school must leave their phone in the designated area (cell phone locker) in the office and collect it as they are leaving.
Side note: No earbuds are allowed, students or teachers, unless for a computer based class.

3. Are there any other technology policies? For example, are there technology controls inside and/or outside of school (e.g., web monitoring, filters, etc.)?
Students are only allowed to get their device out if the teacher requires or approves it. We use the Go Guardian monitoring service to ensure students are on task when using devices.
Behavior
1. What are the school's behavior policies?
We use a school discipline philosophy based on the book of Proverbs. Our lower school teachers have a short list of classroom rules based on scripture and determine their own consequences and rewards. Our upper school uses a demerit and detention system.
